PROCESS & PATIENCE
Building for generations requires a shared philosophy. If your question isn't here, I welcome a conversation.
I work exclusively with Maine-grown hardwoods like black walnut, white oak, and cherry. Every plank is hand-selected for grain character and dried to ensure stability for a lifetime of use.
I prioritize time-tested joinery—hand-cut dovetails and mortise-and-tenon joints—over metal fasteners. This allows the wood to move naturally with the seasons without compromising the piece's integrity.
Depending on the complexity and my current bench queue, most pieces require 12 to 20 weeks. Quality cannot be rushed; I take the time necessary to get the finish and fit exactly right.
While I don't build exact replicas, I can select species and finishes that harmonize with your current interior. I focus on creating a 'quiet' aesthetic that complements a room rather than crowding it.
I use natural oil and wax finishes that are easy to maintain. A simple dusting and an occasional light re-waxing are usually all that's required to keep the wood's luster for decades.
I am currently accepting commissions for autumn 2024. Let’s discuss the dimensions and species that suit your space.
